Influenza A virus subtype H9N2 is a low-pathogenic avian influenza virus that has garnered global attention due to its zoonotic potential and role as a genetic donor to other strains.

First identified in poultry, H9N2 has since become endemic in parts of Asia and the Middle East, where it circulates widely among domestic birds and has occasionally infected humans, raising concerns about pandemic preparedness.
Avian GEN Dx – Influenza A (H9N2) RT-qPCR Detection kit is designed to target the hemagglutinin (HA) gene of the Influenza A (H9N2) virusโ€™s genome and can detect the presence of virus even in low copy numbers. The kit contains all of the necessary components for RT-qPCR and requires no additional optimisation. It includes a lyophilised mastermix containing Hot Start Taq, Reverse Transcriptase & RNase Inhibitor, Avian GEN Dx Positive Control and H9N2 Detection Mix compatible with any qPCR cycler detecting FAM probes.
